Description:
- The MagneStar® 500 series is a series of magnetic particles that are used extensively in biotechnology, biomedicine and catalysis applications. This particular series consists of a 500nm wide particle with various functional groups attached to the surface. These magnetic nanoparticles are useful in effective separation of biomolecules, cells, and as a catalyst support. The MagneStar® 500 series contains many different functional groups such as carboxyl, amino, epoxide and silicate groups.
Structure:
-
MagneStar® is a series of magnetic particles with narrow size distribution and super paramagnetism. These small magnetic particles have a core, a layer of magnetic compound sandwiched between the core, and an outermost layer. The outermost layer of the particles is made of either inorganic or functionalized organic material, which completely covers the magnetic compound. This prevents potentially incompatible interaction with biomaterials from occuring. These magnetic particles have very good dispersity, well controlled particle size and a narrow particle size distribution.
